NCHPC Urges Continued Funding for Palliative Care Research
The National Coalition for Hospice and Palliative Care (NCHPC) recently submitted written testimony to the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies, urging continued federal investment in palliative care research. Building on prior Congressional support, the Coalition is advocating for $12.5 million in FY 2026 funding for the National Institute on Aging to sustain the Consortium for Palliative Care Research Across the Lifespan. The testimony highlights the critical need for a robust, coordinated research strategy that addresses care gaps, supports interdisciplinary training, and includes individuals with limited access to care. By advancing this work, NCHPC aims to strengthen the evidence base for symptom management, improve quality of life, and ensure equitable, person-centered care for people living with serious illness.
