Gerald’s Law Signed: Ensuring Burial Benefits for Veterans in Hospice Care
We are pleased to announce that Gerald’s Law has officially been signed into law, ensuring burial benefits for all veterans in hospice care. This historic legislation honors the dignity and sacrifices of our nation’s heroes, providing their families with the support they deserve during times of loss.
The National Coalition for Hospice and Palliative Care joined the National Alliance for Care at Home in endorsing this vital legislation, recognizing its importance for veterans and their families.
“Our coalition is thrilled that Gerald’s Law has been signed into law,” said Jessica Hausauer, PhD, CEO of the National Coalition for Hospice and Palliative Care. “Veterans and their families deserve care in the setting of their choice without losing critical burial benefits because of outdated policies. This legislation upholds veterans’ wishes and ensures equitable access to quality end-of-life care. We are deeply grateful to lawmakers, advocates, and everyone who championed this cause to make it a reality.”
This landmark legislation marks a pivotal step forward in addressing the needs of seriously ill veterans and their families. The National Coalition for Hospice and Palliative Care remains steadfast in advocating for compassionate policies that support the well-being of our nation’s heroes.
